15th February – 1st April
Over the October half term holidays last year, all junior Art students were invited to create an Art Re-cycle Sculpture to communicate their concerns about the environment. This is an annual event at Lord Williams’s school.
The students’ Art Re-cycle project had to be small and portable. And no bigger than a metre in size…
In their lessons students evaluated each others work and chose winners in each of their tutor groups. All the work of the class winners was displayed during an open evening and arranged and judged by our Art Ambassadors in November.
All finalists’ artwork was displayed in Lower School reception and attracted very favourable comments from its many visitors. Overall, first, second and third prize winners from each year group received prizes of art equipment.
For the first time the artwork is now displaying in the newly renovated museum and to quote Simon Clarkson Head of Art LWS: …” it is hoped that it will attract lots of attention, and get people to think about how they recycle things that would normally be discarded.”
