Derek Witchell was one of the first student’s at Lord Williams to pass A level art back in the late 60’s, He then trained as an architect and had his own practice in Thame. Later he was called into the ministry and was a parish priest for ten years, mostly in Wing.
For most of his life he dabbled in pen and wash watercolours, mainly of buildings. But since retirement he has been focusing on painting in oils with a slight impressionist style, mainly ‘wet in wet’, and of a variety of subjects – he likes to try different things.
Recently he has had a few commissions for landscapes and portraits, with his most successful exhibition to date the 2019 Thame Art Crawl, exhibiting at Fatface, where you can find him again this year.
