“I can’t leave a comrade to die”
Frank Kirby was one of Thame’s unsung heroes.
Frank rose from being a Yeoman in the Oxfordshire Hussars 1889, to retirement as a Group Captain in the RAF in 1926. As a Corporal in the Royal Engineers he was awarded the Victoria Cross for gallantry in 1900, whilst serving in South Africa.
Discover his life story and the heroic deeds in a new exhibition curated by Mike Dyer.
